LESSON 1: Why connecting sessions is tricky?
Simulcast might be detrimental to media quality. When using it, it requires more bandwidth on the uplink and more CPU.
Here are two examples where limiting the use of simulcast makes perfect sense:
- For 1:1 sessions, limit simulcast to a single layer or don't use it at all
- If a layer isn't being displayed anywhere - don't generate it to begin with
